Huawei responded to the US government's plan to extradite Meng Wanzhou.

On January 22, Huawei said in its response to a surging journalist that we have taken note of the relevant reports and will closely follow the progress of the incident.

Huawei complies with all applicable laws and regulations of the country in which it operates, including those applicable to export control and sanctions by the United Nations, the United States and the European Union. Huawei hopes that the U.S. and Canadian governments will return Ms. Meng's freedom as soon as possible, and believes that the follow-up legal system of Canada and the United States will reach a fair conclusion.

Earlier in the day, the Chinese Foreign Ministry held a regular press conference, and Hua Chunying answered questions from reporters.

In response to the question, "The United States has informed Canada that it will formally propose the extradition of Meng Wanzhou. What is your comment?" When asking questions, Hua Chunying said that China has repeatedly expressed its solemn position on this matter. Anyone with normal judgment can see that the Bangladesh Evening Boat case is not an ordinary judicial case. The Canadian side arbitrarily abuses the bilateral extradition treaty between Canada and the United States, which constitutes a serious violation of the security and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens. We urge the Canadian side to release Ms. Meng Wanzhou immediately and ensure her legitimate rights and interests. We also strongly urge the United States to correct its mistakes immediately, to revoke the arrest warrant for Meng Wanzhou and not to submit formal extradition requests to Canada.
