[Global Report] Zhu Mengying] On the evening of the 22nd local time, the Banten province near the Sunda Strait in Indonesia was hit by a tsunami. The latest news from Agence France-Presse said that Indonesian Disaster Relief Agency officials announced the latest casualties: As of now, at least 222 people were killed, 843 were injured and 28 were missing.

The officials of the Disaster Relief Agency also said: "This number is expected to increase because not all victims have successfully evacuated. Not all medical centers have reported specific casualties, and not all regions have complete data.”

Xinhua News Agency, a tsunami occurred on the evening of the 22nd in the west of Indonesia. At the time of the tsunami, no local seismic activity was detected. It was initially suspected that the tsunami was caused by the volcanic eruption of the Karakato volcano and the high tide caused by the moon.

The Krakato volcano is an active volcano located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, Indonesia. The volcano is currently active. Records have shown that in 1883, the volcanic eruption of the Krakato ignited a tsunami that allegedly destroyed hundreds of villages and cities, killing more than 30,000 people.

Indonesia is located in the Pacific Rim earthquake zone, with frequent earthquakes and tsunamis. At the end of September this year, an earthquake of magnitude 7.4 occurred in Donggara County, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The earthquake and the tsunami caused more than 2,000 deaths.
