South Korean military official said a South Korean soldier was found in a sentry toilet bordering North Korea on Friday. The head was shot and injured and died.

The Yonhap News Agency reported on the 16th that this is a 21-year-old second-class soldier, surnamed Kim, who was found injured at the frontline post of the eastern border at around 5 pm local time on Friday. The hospital died.

The Yonhap said that in late August, the soldier was sent to the post to maintain and manage the thermal observation equipment installed at the border. The Korean official said that he was working night shifts at the time of the accident.

"After hearing the gunshots, I rushed to the toilet and found him lying there, wounded with a gunshot wound," said a senior officer.

The South Korean military said they are investigating the incident and his cause of death. A military official said, "From the incident to the present, there are no unusual activities for North Korean soldiers." He added that the incident seems to have nothing to do with North Korea.
